2021
The exhibition FUGE by the interdisciplinary network INTER- engages with the concept of the fugue as a method of insertion and connection, exploring the relationship between the individual and the group in the production of an exhibition. As a term from music theory, “fugue” also alludes to the polyphony of the network: the diverse contexts, artistic practices, and theoretical disciplines of its members. For the exhibition, nine artists, designers, and theorists from a wide range of disciplines developed site-specific works that integrate into the architectural and conceptual gaps of the museum. At times, they draw on fragments from historical works in the collection to develop, estrange, or reinterpret them; at other times, they appear unexpectedly in corridors or corners of the museum spaces; and sometimes they open the museum to the urban environment, inviting participation or assembly. As an intervention within the historical collection, the project blurs different temporalities.

Former Casino Münchengladbach, Germany
2020
For the exhibition OUTSIDE, artists from various disciplines transformed a former casino in Mönchengladbach into a temporary exhibition space. Drawing on the central importance of textile and product design in the Lower Rhine region, the artists created textile, object-based, and scenographic works that questioned conventional classifications of objects between art, design, and functionality. The exhibition INSIDE, held in a Düsseldorf project space, explored language and the question of what role words play for artists—and what happens when language itself becomes a material for artistic work. The exhibition included a reading by Oliver Arendt.
